Known as a “Romance” language, Romanian is a very old and melodic tongue. Dating back to about 110 CE, this language gained its name from the Romans who invaded the territory now known as Romania. Originally, the Romanian language was a crude form of Latin. Because the language the Romans spoke was so similar to the language now known as Italian, there are several similarities between Romanian and Italian.

Today the Romanian language is mostly spoken in the country of Romania and parts of Moldova; in Moldova this language is called Moldovan, but is still the same language with very few differences. Although this language is not a widely spoken language in the world, many jobs exist for those who are bilingual, speaking Romanian fluently. The need for translators, teachers and traveling business consultants who are familiar with this tongue is still present. Those who wish to travel through Romania or study abroad there will find great opportunities and a lovely country with a rich history of victories.

The Romanian language is often referred to as a simplified form of Latin; there are not quite as many rules and cases to memorize and use with Romanian. In comparison to the other Romance languages, Romanian is one of the easier languages to learn because of its simpler rules which are fairly uniform. Learning this language to the point of fluency is possible, but finding classes may be difficult - it is not as widely taught as other European languages.
